Each issue contains beautifully illustrated projects for the advanced, intermediate and beginner wire artists. Colour photographs show close-ups and the instructions are detailed. For each project, we take you step by step from the introduction and list of requirements to the finished project. Practical topics of special interest to wire-art jewellers to help clear up confusion within the industry about their materials, tools, business strategies as well as provide additional material to help them sell their products.
Susan Llewellyn, former Partner and Adminstration and for The Wire Artist Magazine also professionally creates and instructs on Wire Jewellery. Mavis & Jim’s daughter, Susan Llewellyn grew up with wire, beads and gemstones all around her, so it was only natural that she begin wireworking at the tender age of eight. She fondly recalls, "My brother and I used to make little men out of plastic-coated wire and have wars with them." Right now she is working with the family’s third generation of wireworkers: Her children, Michelle, and Kyle, are now trying their hand at it. With all of her parents’ experience and knowledge behind her, Susan is a very accomplished wireworker who has a lot to offer through her retail outlet in Stratford, Ontario, Canada.
Mavis Llewellyn, Senior Wire Artist has more than 40 years of wireworking behind her, Mavis brought a very important element to the magazine –– experience. She is responsible for some of the most beautiful and complex designs to date. Mavis began wireworking in 1959 when she and her late husband, Jim, came to Canada and he decided to turn his hobby into a business. Jim had been wireworking since 1935 in England and, in the late ’60s, published three books.
